Lecture: Three hours of lecture/discussion per week.

A study of contemporary political, cultural, and social life in Britain. The political focus will be the Monarchy and Parliament, the economy, the judiciary, and the political parties, as well as the electoral systems. The cultural focus will include the media, art and architecture, leisure and humor, and popular rock culture. The societal section will investigate the idea of “class,” the educational system, trade unions, and religion, as well as the geographical diversity and land use.
