The automotive technician is faced with rapidly changing technology that ushers the auto industry into the new millennium. Current technology includes electronically controlled systems such as fuel injection, distributorless ignitions, transmissions, transaxles, anti-lock brakes, active suspension and traction control units. A combination of classroom theory, shop “hands-on” training and experience are all vital components for today’s technician. The automotive technology student begins with the basic classes in the first year and progresses to more challenging and advanced courses in the second year. In addition to the required automotive technology courses, the Associate in Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology requires completion of 15 semester hours in approved general education courses.
A minimum of 61 credit hours are required for this Associate in Applied Science degree.
